Empowering Women and People Living with HIV in the Asia Pacific Region: Micro Grants for Community-Led Initiatives

Introduction:
The Asia Pacific region grapples with a significant burden of HIV infections, with approximately 23% of all global new HIV infections occurring within its borders. Despite efforts to combat the epidemic, the region saw only a 14% reduction in new infections since 2010, lagging behind targets to end AIDS. Within this context, the Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (APN+), the International Community of Women Living with HIV Asia Pacific (ICWAP), and the National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA) are joining forces to address the challenges faced by women and people living with HIV through micro grants.

Micro Grants: A Tool for Change
Micro grants are short-term funding opportunities aimed at empowering grassroots initiatives led by and for women and people living with HIV. These grants enable networks of individuals to support their work in key areas such as treatment, advocacy, awareness, communication, and improving the quality of life for those living with HIV. With a focus on supporting community-led organizations, micro grants offer flexible funding to address the unique needs of marginalized communities.
