Treatment Literacy Regional Training of Trainers

Under the UNDP lead DIVA program APN+ organized regional training of trainers (ToT) on HIV Treatment Literacy as part of CSS component attached to the program. which aimed to place a strong emphasis on improving treatment access for MSM and Transgender people via improved community knowledge and understanding of treatment, including the notions of Treatment as Prevention (TasP) and health rights as its priority area of work.

Training’s participants came from 7 countries involved in the DIVA program and were selected by country SRs based on the criteria to fit in as trainer, including facilitating skills and experience working with MSM and TG population. APN+ also

encourage all SRs to nominate participants from MSM and TG background for the ToT.

The ToT was held in two parts, the first training took place on 10 – 12 September 2014 focused on knowledge transfer of all materials in the APN+ Treatment Literacy for MSM and Transgender Population training manual, which has been developed specifically for this program to meet the needs of targeted population.

The second training was held on 29 September – 1 October 2014, with large proportion in practical part on how to deliver the training at country level in order for all participants/country’s trainers to explore the local diversity of social and cultural circumstances and incorporate it into their own training concepts.

As the ToT concluded, there are 14 country trainers equipped with capacity and skills to deliver treatment literacy training at country level. The country level training will be conducted as part of program activities under each SRs involved in DIVA program.
